As someone who has been looking for a great decaf option for a while, the Wilton Red Bourbon has been truly fantastic.
My first brew with this coffee was a simple pourover with the V60 dripper (~1:16).
The first few sips of the cup really hit you with sweet cola notes followed by tingling spiciness reminiscent of ginger soda. As you progress through the cup you start to experience more caramel syrup and peach in the body. Finally, as the cup cools down, the last few sips of the coffee really show the complexity of the beans as bright citrusy characteristics shine.
I can’t wait to explore this coffee more and experiment with different recipes and brew methods. This was my first Frequent order, but it certainly won’t be the last!
Far and away the best decaf I've tried. Very clear, bright, and juicy.
Love to hear it. Thanks, Tom!
I guess I'm an outlier on this coffee, but it's just not for me. I tried pourover and espresso with it, and keep getting a bitterness that reminds me of someone burnt and ashy kinda like cigarettes. I'll keep tinkering, but the only way I can drink this coffee is with milk and sugar. Black is just not enjoyable to me.
Hi Eric, thanks for the feedback and sorry it didn't live up to your expectations. We just reached out to you via email as well.
Dont ususally select light roasts, but this bean packs a punch. Complex and satisfying, recommended
I love the Red Bourbon coffee! I have never had decaf taste so good!
I’ve always been wary of coffee with watering notes thinking it would be too funky. But this works and is absolutely amazing. Tastes like watermelon candy
I tasted more of a banana runts/tropical flavor but it was absolutely delicious
Really great strong strawberry guava flavors! Really great pour over beans here!
Like getting punched in the face with a Granny Smith apple. Delicious 😋
Best decaf I’ve had in a long time
I love experimental coffees, EA mucilage decaf, micro-farms, weird honeyed blends, so trying this out was an obvious choice for me. It's a great and fruity light roast decaf, and I can even taste the faintest bit of that watermelon in the fruit forwardness. I've tried it with Aeropress (James Hoffman method using a paper filter) as well as Espresso, and they both work fine, maybe favoring the Aeropress a bit for ease of dialing in. My only real gripe, and hear me out, this is going to sound out there, but I feel like watermelon was too safe of a choice, I've had funky fruit forwards coffees that tasted similar, and while the watermelon co-ferment is definitely unique in its flavor, it's more so capturing a flavor that was already there, and evolving it, rather than doing something completely new.
TLDR: try it for the novelty if you like funky fruity coffees, it's not too far out there.
I've been on the search for some heavy fruit and funky coffees, and since I've had to cut back on the caffeine recently, I thought I was out of luck getting something that tasted good, that's when I found Frequent and their Los Nogales Typica coffee. I was genuinely surprised that a decaf coffee could taste so great. I will warn this is not for the faint of heart, if you don't know what funky means with coffee, then you might be in for a surprise, but for those in the know? this is it.
Love to hear it 🙌 Thanks William!
Wow. This is some of the best coffee I've had. Not "best decaf" -- this rivals seriously good coffee like Sey, Prodigal, La Cabra. This one is juicy, fruity, yet clean and crisp. Definitely get some tropical fruits here. No typical decaf flatness or boring-ness.
Love to hear it. Thanks for the kind words, Trevor 🙌
